Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Everything, the location, facilities, atmosphere, hosts and volunteers, everything was top-notch. If you were planning to visit Madeira and rent a car, you needn’t stay anywhere else. You can explore the entire island from here, you’ll never be more than about an hours drive to anywhere. I will recommend this hostel to anyone looking to explore Madeira. That’s anyone, whether you are solo or a couple, in your twenties or eighties. There are bunks but also private rooms with balconies available, noise curfew of 11pm is strict so a good nights sleep is easy. Plenty of places nearby to explore and the town of Seixal is perfect with it’s natural lido’s and black sand beach for a morning swim but situated well, so you can explore the entire island. Probably the most important aspect are the hostel-planned activities and the large communal areas so you are guaranteed to make friends and will not be alone for a swim, hike or coffee if you don’t want to be. But also have the space to enjoy your own company too.

Summary: Better than I could have ever hoped for.
