Built in 1937, recently restored (spring 2022) and modernly equipped though maintaining its original style. Close to sandy beaches, surrounded by the woods of Arrábida National Park and only 30 minutes away from Lisbon! A breathtaking place to relax!
The romantic cottage is located in a very cozy hamlet named Castanhos, in Arrábida Natural Park, a place of great natural beauty with mountains and sea and only 27 km (30 minutes by car) from exciting Lisbon. For your confort, just outside Castanhos, less than 500 meters away, you will find a modern supermarket.
The village
Castanhos is part of Vila Fresca de Azeitão. A lovely place to walk around. Vila Nogueira de Azeitão is less than 5 minutes away. It’s a traditional village, very well known for its wine production, its traditional pastry and cheese. There are 2 important wine producers - José Maria da Fonseca and Bacalhôa – that offer guided tours. Both have a delightful wine tasting.
Only 15 minutes away you will find the city of Setúbal. Here you can take the ferry to the famous Tróia Resort and Comporta beaches and eat an unforgettable grilled fish.
You are also close (20 minutes by car) to Sesimbra, very well known for its sea food restaurants, beach and Carnival Parade in February. Near to Sesimbra is the incredible beach of Meco. Protected by a high cliff it has an excellent clay for natural skin treatments.
And if you like golf: Azeitão has several golf courses, such as Quinta do Peru (5 minutes), Montado and Palmela Village Golf.
Some more remarks about nature and sports. You could make some excellent hikes through the mountains. And don’t forget that the beaches are only 15 minutes away! Diving in the blue Atlantic Ocean is a very popular sport in this region.
How to get there?
The train will take you to Lisbon in 25 minutes and is only 15 minutes away from Castanhos. You will enjoy crossing the famous Tagus river by the impressive red bridge "25 de Abril".
